A splashdown for Kings Island’s new B&M?

Now this is just really odd, but a splashdown-like area has appeared in the park’s Swan Lake.

Now, if the rumors are true, this would be the first non-diving B&M coaster to have a splashdown effect. You’ve got to start wondering if they might really be doing a diver? If so, that will get King’s Island a lot of attention. But, the footers around where the coaster is supposed to be say different.

Just like Worlds of Fun, it looks like Cedar Fair is (trying to) keep this a secret.

Worlds of Fun starts poking with 2009 project

Worlds of Fun is now starting their own little game of what next year’s secret project is. As you can see from this post in their blog, their starting to tease the new project. They state in a reply to a comment that “It isn’t Cinnabon” and “This project will be shorter than Boomerang.”
That last comment makes me wonder. What coaster could be smaller than Boomerang? A Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter? Intamin Half-Pipe? Yes, I’ll admit, Worlds of Fun has got me stumped. Maybe it will be a giant flat ride of some sort?

It’s kind of early to start predicting what it will be, but by the end of the season we should have a brief answer.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Coastin Around, version 900 something. After a long break, I’ve decided to bring it back. What’s changed is our host (and design too). We’re now hosted by RCTLounge, which I am the site manager for. Thanks to Drop Zone and 772Pilot who have let me use some of their space for this, I can now blog my heart out (coaster heart that is). I also plan to add more people to the blog contributor list in the coming months, so stay tuned for that!

Thanks, and enjoy the new Coastin Around!

Fahrenheit can go, but just barely

After waiting for months, Farenheit at Hershypark is now testing, but it’s not running at full speed. When you watch this video, you can obviously notice that it’s not running at full speed. In fact, just a few days ago, it valleyed which you can see in this photo below (photo from Coasterdom.com):

Hopefully, with a full train load of people it will run faster, but it still brings up a concern for rider’s saftey. Once they start running it with the water-filled dummies we’ll have an answer to if it’s safe or not. Until then, we can just cross our fingers and hope it runs at its full speed someday.
